About
Troop 1 was founded in 1917 and has been continuously chartered ever since. We have been chartered by the American Legion Post 113 for almost 90 years and is one of the oldest troops in the State of Idaho.
On February 1st, 2019, our chartered organization chartered one of the first Scouting America Troops for Girls and we welcomed them as a linked troop.
Troop 1 is a scout led program that teaches leadership and outdoor skills with the assistance and support of trained leaders. We follow the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan in all activities. The troop actively serves the community, and maintains collaborative relationships with area Cub Scout packs.
Troop 1 meets and camps year round providing a varity of outdoor experiences for youth. From local council camps and weekend backing trips to 50 mile adventures and national High Adventure camps. We teach and use Leave No Trace principles and practices. Prior outdoor skills and knowledge are not required, just a desire to learn, as our troop utilizes the EDGE (Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, Enable) method for teaching scouts.
Philosophy – Troop 1 is dedicated to the fulfillment of the Mission and Vision of Scouting America and places a strong emphasis on providing the tools and training for young men and women to learn to make ethical decisions while having fun and adventure.
Requirements – Youth can join Scouting America if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.
